Supported files come from versions 5.5.27 through 5.7.36. MySQL 8 data is not on the list.

Live Export Needs MySQL
Install MySQL Server on the computer before you export to a live database.
MySQL states that version 8.0 removes the .frm files and keeps table metadata in data dictionary tables. MySQL Recovery lists .frm, .myd and .myi files only for older releases.
